i love coron

Everytime i saw Palawan pics on the internet, i cant help but to amaze and delighted by those wonderful view of beaches…and tell to myself that i really want to go there…but when?… i really dont know when it will be…but im sure time will come for that…And it happen...
i got to know sir ted in vt forum, the owner of cast away…everything was set by him so we confirmed our booking to him and he was so kind that he will treat me a chocolate cake baked by ate gigi, which added to my excitement to go to palawan ;-D

March 14 - 5:30 am me & my brother left the house in a van drive by uncle then fetch ness along the way…then we went to ate em’s house to pick her up and william and lastly heizel who is waiting for us in the 7 eleven along edsa in boni. Around 7am we were on the terminal 3 airport one and a half hour early for our departure time…so picture galore muna… when we were inside the airport we go inside a small shop and we saw the underwater camera case and i decided, heizel pursued me, to buy. After waiting for an hour we then board to a service bus going to the plane…And our flight was delayed for about 5-10 minutes…Around past 10am when we arrived in Busuanga airport and we wait for another minutes for Cebu Pacific arrival were ate em & william board. Kuya Edmar, our driver is already waiting for us outside the airport. He then drove us to Salvacion for our lunch. It is a long road trip but the view around us is so wonderful feels like were not in the Philippines. When we arrive in Salvacion, we go directly to the table and ate gave us a bowl of crab MmMmMmM….and the sauted cabbage…very delicious for our hungry stomach…After our lunch, another long road trip then ride a boat only for a few minutes going to Calauit Island. We are all excited to be in Caluit since it is the slice of safari in Africa. But picture picture first at the entrance. then walk under the heat of the sun where on our way we saw many zebra and deer. Then we rest for awhile in the rattan chair (we want to sleep)…and we all hop in the truck and tour around and go to Giraffe, it is an awesome experience to feed a Giraffe and also deers, we also saw procurpine, bear cat, wild pig, wild chicken etc (cant remember all) and also the narra tree and banato tree, really nice tree…After touring around we decided to leave since there’s a lot of people coming. And the best part of it is we didnt pay the entrance fee. indeed it was an honest mistake because when i reand & show to them the printed email of kua ted i just saw the truck rental and didnt notice that he includes it. So i just say the name of kuya ted…(like kuya ted said-nkakalibre pla ang name na ted…hehe) so we go back where we ride a boat and to van again. From there going to coron town is very very very long road trip that some of us sleep. We decided to go straight to Maquinit Hotspring. I only have a quick dip in the water aside from the water being hot but also i am too hungry. But the hotspring is so relaxing after a long road trip. Finally, the trip for the day is over and we headed to our accomodation in Gran Vista. As the van approaching, gran vista is noticeable because of the lights hanging on the tree. And the ambiance, the nature that surrounds us is very wow!The moment we step off our feet we saw ate Gigi, the owner of Granvista, waiting for us and the one who prepares our dinner so we cant wait as they put the foods in the table we really start to eat. The food is really yummy. Grilled pusit, fish sinigang, grilled fish and crab. Our starving stomach is now filled with plenty of delicous food. And our dessert, my much awaited chocolate cake baked by ate gigi. I am really thankful for that. Since it is a wonderful tiring day, ate gigi show us our accom. the nipa hut with 4 beds and with like an attic enough for all of us… what i really like about is the bonggacious mosquito net in one bed…really enticing to take our rest. so we said gudnite.

go go go island hopping!!!
Banol Island - Coron

Banol Island

March 15 - around 3 or 4am when we heard someone singing. Not that creepy but in very matinis voice. And jeff asked who is singing. And we found out that it was william. What a nice alarm tone for us. live na live…hehe b4 6am we are now preparing, eating breakfast, for our 1st day coron island hopping. So we tx ate gigi to send us a trycicle to pick up us and went to market to buy our foods to be cooked in the island. So after buying all our needs in the market we start our island hopping with kua jonathan as our boatmen and his asst. kua jr, and our guide kua bobby and his brother kua niño. So the island hopping start…

CYC (coron youth club beach) - no entrance fee just a small island, white sand and clear water. We didnt stay here for so long just take a little time to swim.

Lusong Wreck - we saw many fish here and the ship wreck. i just enjoy swimming with a lifevest.we also feed the fish with a bread. gardenia bread brought by zel.

Banul Beach - as in wow na wow they said that it is like the little bora because of its fine white sand and clear water and the magnificient stones added to the nice view. We had our lunch here cooked by our guide. Grilled fish, grilled pusit and soysauce with tomatoes. After our lunch go to

Twin Lagoon - great view, clear blue water. it is high tide when we we were there so we didnt passed to the other twin lagoon. only kuya rowell & heizel able to go to the other side because in order to go to the other side you need to dive and cross like a small cave path.

Barracuda Lake - need to take a little trek in a stone….we really enjoyed the cool not salty water here… very very deep so we always wear our life jacket…

Kayangan Lake - after taking many steps at the top part amazing, fantastic view ovelooking of the blue clear water. then go down to the other side and swim in kayangan lake. just take a picture in balsa and we just have a quick swim here since we are in a hurry to be in siete pecaddos. i saw vt anliz here.

Siete Pecados - really amazing corals under the water many many fish…we feed the fish with bread and rice.

It was a very wonderful island hopping and looking forward for the next day and next island tour so we leave siete pecados and go back to coron town and our guide aboard in the boat and we also need to buy something in the market for our dinner. After that go to castaway. jus a few minutes from coron town by boat. really cast away because the place is ours only…with the help of caretaker, jeff cooked our dinner misua with patola sauted in corned beef. after we all take a bath, then have our dinner while talking about our whole day experience. Then time to rest, me & zel on the bed with my fave bonggacious mosquito net. around past 9pm, lights off. many stars scattered which makes our night bright. and because were all exhausted we sleep early…zzzzz….

my best ever trip
clear water @banana island - Coron

clear water @banana island

March 16 - Before 6am we do all wake up early so we can start early our island hopping. The caretaker cooked the rice for us and also the corned beef so we will just eat in one of the island. We leave cast away around past 6am (we didnt experience fishing here or the row boat…) then go to coron to fetch our guide. along the way we saw a fisherman and we buy fish for our lunch. it took us more than an hour to be in our first island.

Malcapuya Island - this is my 2nd favorite beach because of very very white fine sand. but the water is not that clean not maintained properly.but still the surroundings is very beautiful and there’s a cliff wherein you can see the magnificient view around. We ate our breakfast-corned beef and rice and then take a rest swim and swim and then take our lunch-salted egg,the grilled fish and some canned goods. after our lunch proceed to the next island…

Banana Island- my top 1 among the beach we’ve been because of its very clean and clear water. but the sand is much better in malcapuya. but i love banana island because it is maintained properly so i really swim even the sun is striking very hot while others is sleeping. we ask discount for our entrance here but they refused instead they just give us a discounted rate on the tshirt as a change and also to visit the island beside the malaroyroy. then next island…

Unknown island beside malaroyroy- we decided not to go to malaroyroy anymore since there’s an entrance fee so we just go the no name island beside who owns by the owner of banana island. we walked around the island. take a picture picture…we conquered that island since you will walk through many sharp stones and have some cave…and that was our last island destination and go back to coron town proper.

When we arrive in coron we just leave our things in ate gigi’s house and then trek to Mt. Tapiyas- 705 steps…walking distance from ate gigi’s house. at the top is the big cross. and the overlooking of coron. i do laugh here coz live na live there’s falls in the mountain…hehhe only ate em knew..hehhe then after one group picture suddenly the lights off. brownout!!!so we decided to go down.good thing ness brought flashlight…after our tiring trek we then go to the resto beside ate gigi’s house and we ate our dinner with our guide then go to the store where we buy cashew nuts and to the souvenir shop but is already closed. Then go to granvista where ate gigi is patiently wating for us there and ask about our island hopping…and it is our last night in palawan.

Mar 17 - woke up early around 6am prepare and packed our things for our flight to manila. around 7am go to souvenir shop to buy pasalubong, i bought shirt and fish wallet. then quarter to 8am go to market and we bought danggit. then go back to gran vista with ate gigi. she coordinated the van that will fetch us going to airport. around 8:30am time to say goodbye to ate gigi and to our guide, kuya niño and kua bobby, ate gigi’s nephew. we are really thankful for ate gigi for accommodating us…she is very accommodating and she coordinates everything so our stay is very hassle free…along the way to our airport we saw many many cows like in new zealand. were so delighted to see those cows crossing the road.At the airport i saw vt anliz again and we talked about each other exp. in coron. said goodbye and we go on board via PAL.

To sum it up, it was really a wonderful experience…As of now still have a hangover of coron and i really missed coron…we want to go back…i am so much thankful to GOD for letting us see how beautiful His creation, for taking care of us and for everything and also for letting me know kua ted….the man behind our succesful, wondeful, affordable, awesome exprience in palawan…and also to ate gigi for personally taking good care of us. and to our guide, who also become our photogrpaher, who assist us in our island hopping. Thank you very much…God bless!!! regardz…

Thanks for the excellent insight into Coron, Winnie! I'm seriously considering visiting this amazingly beautiful place on my January trip to the Philippines. Would gladly stay in Coron Castaway or Gran Vista :)

Very nice page Winnie, and beautiful photos! I think you saw much more than I did - next time I will spend more time in Palawan - and try to stay at Gigi's place.

Hi Winnie, Really enjoyed your coron adventure! Makes me homesick, kambakkambak working its magic. Thnks for the very nice comments on Castaway and Gran Vista. Btw, your driver was Kuya Edmund and I think you went to Skeleton Wreck not Lusong wreck.
