1. How Do I Add a Location to My List? It's easy. Just go to 'Your Travel Pages' at the top of the page when you are logged in. From there you can choose to 'Add a Location To Your Map' or you can choose to '+Add A Location To Your Map .' Each link allows you to select a Location, add it to your map and list and also allows you the option of building your travel page for that location. 2. How Do I Delete a Location I Accidentally Added? It's easy. Just go to your list of Travel Pages. Find the page you wish to delete and then just click the 'delete' link next to the location. You will be asked to confirm the deletion. Please be certain that you are deleting the correct page since you will NOT be able to retrieve a page that you have accidentally deleted. 3. I Added a City to My Map and The Whole Country Filled In. Why? The map is too small to show each individual city you may have visited. If you've visited Paris, you have by definition been to France. Remember, the map is simply a quick illustration of your travels. For complete detailed information, please refer to a member's Travel Pages. 4. I Selected a Home, But I Don't Get A Red Dot Showing It's Location on My Map. Why? You will only get a red dot showing your home if you select a city or town. If you select a country or region, a red dot will not be placed as they have no specific coordinates. 5. Why are Individual US States Defined on the Map, but Not UK Countries, Canadian Provinces etc.? When VT was first started, the US was the only country that provided a detailed database that could be used to choose provinces and numerous cities. At the time, VT's tiny staff did the laborious and time-consuming work of outlining the US states. As the database grew, the tiny staff could not keep up with the new locations. We felt it was much more important to include locations at which members could build pages than it was to spend precious time hand labeling each individual province or region. In the future, we hope to be able to automate much of the work so that individual territories, regions and provinces can be colored in on your map. In the meantime, you can rest easy in the knowledge that a trip to Toronto really does mean that you have visited Canada :-) 6. How Do I Reach the Travel Pages of Another Member? It's easy. From the members' Homepage or Travel Page, just click on his or her mini-map and you'll be taken to the full map and full Travel Pages list. 7. How Do I Edit My Pages? Just click on the Edit link next to the name of the location you want to edit. For example, if you want to go to your Italy page, just click on Italy. To Edit your page, just click on the edit link to the right to Italy. 8. Why Are Some of My Continents or Countries Written in Black and Some are Links in Blue? If you have specifically added a location to your list (like Asia for example), it will be a link taking you to that page. If you've added a location within Asia (like China), but haven't specifically added Asia, then there's no point linking to an empty Asia page. 9. What Do The Icons and Numbers Mean? The icons indicate the number of Tips and Photos that your page contains plus the Number of Travelogues in that order. |
