Picking a motto might be perplexing for some, but when Chris (aka
crewrower) picked his, “The Journey is the Reward”, it couldn’t have been more on target, since this is the creed by which he definitely seems to live. And although a trip to China was probably his most memorable journey, since it started in 2004 and has continued on ever since (he resides there), his trips to “Cambodia and Myanmar in 2002 and Jordan in 2007 were perhaps watershed trips in terms of the personal challenge of conquering new territory”. But watershed aside, the Philippines is the first country he ever visited and, 14 years and 6 trips later, is still his favorite travel destination.

Chris was born in Ellicott City, Maryland, USA, one of three boys. He also went to college in his home state, at the University of Maryland. But for graduate school he ventured out, attending the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. His Master’s Degree was earned in East Asia Studies. And at present, he’s working on another Master’s Degree – that being an MBA at the University of Hong Kong (Shanghai Fudan campus). As Chris further relates, “I work in Shanghai, China. I've lived in China for more or less the past 5 years. I speak English and Mandarin Chinese, although I hope to raise my fluency in both languages”.
He’s had an amazing and colorful life, but his real charm comes from his appreciation of every life experience that has come his way.
