Kennedy International Airport, or "JFK", is located fifteen miles from midtown Manhattan, in southeastern Queens, at the southern end of the Van Wyck Expressway. Over 29 million passengers pass through JFK annually. Taxis (flat rate $45 plus tolls, as of May 2004) aren't your only option to get to Manhattan from JFK, you may want to check out the : -AirTrain JFK to Manhattan (via connection with NYC subway) -New York Airport Service Express Bus to Midtown Manhattan/West Side -SuperShuttle Manhattan to anywhere in Manhattan between Battery Park and 227th, including all hotels -Q10 and Q3 buslines connecting to MTA subway trains -Private Car/Limousine/Van Services Details on all of the above transportation options are too numerous to list here, but are clearly presented on the official JFK website - see below. Here you will also find all information on getting to Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, or Staten Island from JFK. Leave a Comment

JFK is where most international travelers and a decent share of domestic ones will arrive. It is a multi-terminal airport with the airtrain linking the nine of them in six stops. Terminals two and three, five and six and also eight and nine are shared stops. The major international terminals are one and four although international flights leave from nearly all. Depending upon airline of course. Leave a Comment

My least favorite of the airports serving this great city. I do find myself here more often than not though as i like the schedule to oakland at 615am via denver. A smallish 4 or so terminal airport it is very easy to access. You can take the M60 bus from 125th street or the Airporter bus lines from places like GCT and the Port Authority. Mostly domestic here but not strictly. Leave a Comment

This is to me what an airport should be. It is connected to the North East Corridor Amtrak and NJT trains. There is fast efficient monorail between the parking areas, the train station, and all the terminals. Only three here now but I have heard of plans to expand. There are also bus services to the city if the airtrain is too expensive for you. I believe last time i took it it was $11.75 each way. A full array of Int'l and domestic flights leave and arrive here. Leave a Comment

I feel this needs to be put out where all can see it. It is NOT an easy thing to connect between NYC airports. Depending on traffic you can take 3 hours between any of them or more. If you must connect between airports here make sure you have a stop over so you dont have to rush and worry and most likely miss your flight anyway. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

We flew from Heathrow to Newark on Virgin Airlines. We usually fly with them on international flights and can get decent discounts sometimes. The flight was not too long, about half of that to South Africa. The crew were friendly and did not run out of food (as had happened to us previously!). There was one downside to the flight, and this was due to the irritating people sitting in front of us. A family of 4 from Germany were demanding of the crew, got up and down all the time, had their seats down at all times, and were generally painful. They complained about their seats and ended up getting better seats, so that the 2 left in front of us could lie down! Besides them the flight was good though. Crew were friendly and personable. I know a few people who literally go from London to New York for the weekend to go shopping, and I personally think this is a bit much, but they are happy to do it. Leave a Comment

Fredericton, New Brunswick finally got a direct route to the USA in August, 2003. Instead of flying via Montreal or Toronto, we now can choose one of two daily Delta jet aircraft flights direct to Boston where there are hourly shuttle flights onward to NYC. Here, at the end of my trip, I took a shot out of the aircraft window as we were lined up for take-off from La Guardia in NYC on the homeward leg. UPDATE: Well, it was nice while it lasted! Due to Delta Airline's on-going financial problems, the direct link to Boston was cancelled in 2007. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

New York is North Americs'a gateway and there are cheap air fares almost year-round from Europe. London and Amsterdam are great places to fly from, just walk into any regular travel agency and enquire there. Or visit some travel websites like Expedia or Travelocity. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

New York has three international airports:JFK,LA GUARDIA and Newark International airport. When you are arriving to New York from JFK airport,be sure to get a NY yellow taxi to go to Manhattan. If someone offer you another kind of taxi, don't get it,because can cost doble price than a normal one!,. The price of a normal taxi is $35 + tunnel toll+tip. New York is a very easy city to walk, but for long distances in the city,I reccomend you to use the subway,is very fast and efficcient. Here you can see a NY Subway Map,enlarge to see it in full size. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

It's good to see that JFK airport has been quick to embrace the low cost airlines such as Jet Blue. Fares don't seem as cheap as this side of the pond with the likes of 'Ryanair' and 'Easyjet', but nonetheless getting to the Big Apple is probably as cheap as it as ever been. A bit more competition wouldn't go amiss however in this sector - and I believe that Richard Branson will be heading your way soon with an American version of his low-cost airline. I just hope he picks a sensible name, as the Australian division known as "Virgin Blue" causes all sorts of problems for companies 'filter' / nanny systems on the net. Leave a Comment
