 | Isla Mujeres Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 36 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (36) Another charming aspect of Isla Mujeres is the quaint little bars and restaurants scattered along the beach and throughout town. Many, like the one picured are open-air. Some of the beach restaurants just have patio tables set up in the sand. Simple and relaxing. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalDirections: El Centro and Beach Area

I ate lunch at Brisa Mexicana during my one day visit to the island of Isla Mujeres in February 2006. It is a large, brightly coloured restaurant located in the heart of the island's main town, Isla Town. I don't know the address, but it stands at the crossroads of two of the main streets in the heart of Isla Town, and has a bright yellow facade and a host of outdoor tables shaded by yellow and white Sol-sponsored umbrellas. The restaurant is typically Caribbean. It is open-planned and has an airy feel. It is also decorated with a lot of plant life, so even when you are dining inside, you feel as though you are sat outdoors under a canopy. The menu consists of numerous fresh seafood dishes (fresh fish, shrimps, lobster, crab), meat dishes (chicken, pork, beef, steaks) and Mexican specialities (nachos, tortillas, fajitas). At the time of my visit, the bottled beers were part of a "2 for 1" offer, while other drinks included various cocktails and spirits, soft drinks and hot beverages.
I opted for: Camaron con Salsa de Tequila (shrimps in tequila sauce) - Cost: 95 Pesos A plate of about 10 large shrimps served in a hot, tasty tequila-based sauce and served with boiled potatoes and salad. Good quality food and good value for money. 2 bottle of Sol beer - Cost: 25 Pesos I took advantage of the "2 for 1" offer and enjoyed a couple of bottles of ice cold Sol, served with slices of lime. Small, upstairs, palapa roof, with ceiling fans. Tthe best damn food we had while in Isla. Locals eat there. Affordable and Delicious. Relax, out of the heavy traffic flow on Hidalgo, sip a cervace and watch some football on the TV. GOOOOOOOOOL!!!
My son loved the Mexican bean soup. All of the shish-kababs were good. I ate several of the chicken dishes and each was great. Outstanding coffee and juices too. I paid a brief visit to Aluxes Cafe in Isla Town during my one day visit to the island of Isla Mujeres in February 2006. Isla Town has many colourful little cafes amongst its maze of narrow streets, but after walking through the streets in the blazing hot sunshine, this is the one that I chose to stop at for a cold, refreshing drink! The cafe is laid-back and has simple painted walls (deep blue with yellow sunshines painted on) and colourful wooden furniture. A friendly young lady was serving and the cafe is located on a side street off one of the main streets, so wasn't very busy at the time of my visit. The menu contains numerous ice cold fruit juices, canned soft drinks and hot beverages. On the counter there are jars of cookies and muffins to tempt those lacking in willpower!
I had: Fresh orange juice - Cost: 15 Pesos A large cup of freshly squeezed orange juice with lots of ice cubes. Very refreshing! Chocolate chip cookie - Cost: 7 Pesos Well, they were sitting in full view on the counter when I paid - it would have been rude not to buy one! A little restaurant close to the Playa Norte - inconspicuous, but I really liked the breakfast there. Something for every taste - and they´re not only available for breakfast, but also for lunch and dinner when I remember right. The only negative thing was the waitress - I tried my best talking spanish but she was just unfriendly (I don´t think that was because of my spanish :) and that is not very often in México - so that was the only thing which wasn´t nice but the food let me look over that :) Leave a Comment Theme: BreakfastPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: the main street in the direction of the Playa Norte right to the end and then to the right - where it goes to the Casa Maya and there it is right on the corner

Muy authentico. I also like the Rotessirio on Hidalgo for rotisserie chicken: split a whole one between two for a cheap, dedo-licking good comida.

For the best brick oven pizza around, its woth it to eat at Rolandis on Av. Hidalgo. Friendly staff, decent prices and out of this world 'za! My wife wanted to eat there every night! The deserts were KILLER! The bannana split had us waddling back to our room at Elements of the Island. Great spot for a good meal, a cold beer, and to sit back and people watch.
I liked the red peppers w/ Capers, and the Calzone I had was good too! They also Deliver! Leave a Comment Theme: PizzaPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: Right smack in the heart of Av. Hidalgo.

We stopped here to watch the sunset, have a bucket of beers, and some nachos. Didn't see much action, must have been to late or too early. Nice sunset, though. If you decide to sunbathe and swim on Playa Norte you'll surely notice this guy, walking up and down the beach, with a bag full of coconuts in one hand and a machete in the other hand. And if you don't see him, you'll hear him. When you buy coconut(s), first he will cut off just the top so you can drik the milk. Later, he will come (or you can call him) and cut the rest into parts so you can eat the inside of a nut. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Playa Norte

If you are looking for Mexican Tamales don't buy the ones they are selling on the Malecon. These are not corn tamales and they are all tamale and hardly any meat. They had no flavor at all. The ones you want are the ones in the corn husks not the banana leafs. Now if the ones in the banana leafs are green chile tamales then those are the best.
