While I don't recommend making a special trip to Santa Marta for carnival (I'd actually discourage it), I have enjoyed participating in a public school's parade. This was the morning of the Friday before Ash Wednesday. While you may not encounter this in the future, I though you may enjoy seeing a bit of this year's parade. It was fun to see the primary and secondary school students and some parents and teachers participate.
