A fox snatch! Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Sep 21, 2013

The foxcub arrives on time, for the nightly training session, soaked to the skin in the heavy rain and looking very hungry, I start by showing him two chicken legs on the plate, then throwing miscellaneous food scraps as starters, then hold out the chicken leg. Unable to resist his favourite food, he approaches up close and snatches the food from my grasp. A successful training session!

Moonlight fox dinner.... Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Sep 21, 2013

As a full moon rises, my foxcub arrives for his dinner, on cue, but a noisy low-flying aircraft makes him nervous and reluctant to snatch a chicken leg from my hand, as per his previous training session, so I abandon the exercise and toss it to him instead, which he hungrily snaps up, then disappearing with it into the garden darkness.

A fox movie..... Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Sep 14, 2013

My hungry pet cub fox arrives from the shadows of his hiding place in my back garden, looking for his nightly dinner. Tonight the menu consists of tinned meaty chunks, left-over chips, bread soaked in gravy and his favourite, cooked chicken legs. I start the feeding session by throwing meat chunks one at a time in front of him, which he quickly devours, however when I present a chicken leg from the tray, he cannot resist the treat and snatches it from my hand with his sharp incisor teeth, fortunately his aim is accurate and my fingers survive intact........

On a warm summer day I revisited the Riverside Museum to check if there were any new exhibits, not noticed previously. Sometimes some of these are removed for repair, or other reasons, so I discovered this interesting old film footage in the "Pawn Shop"........

Bagpipe invasion! Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Aug 16, 2013

With only one day to go before the international bagpipe event in Glasgow, more pipers arrive at Kelvingrove park for practice sessions. This one "invades" the football pitch, and after a chanter check by the pipe master, the session begins, enjoyed by visitors and onlookers.

More bagpipe action..... Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Aug 14, 2013

Across the Kelvin Bridge another bagpipe practice group are tuning up, beside the South African Boer War Memorial. This is the Glasgow Police pipe band, in my opinion a slightly better rendition, the drum line make a better presentation in advance of the pipers.....

"A skirl o' the pipes" Bennytheball, Glasgow Date Added: Aug 14, 2013

Walking around Glasgow's west end on a sunny morning I hear the distant sound of bagpipes and drums. Following the direction of the source, I arrive at Kelvingrove park, where two groups of Pipers are busy practicing for next weekend's World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green.
As this is only an informal practice session, the pipers and drummers are casually dressed and not in kilts and regalia, but with chanters adjusted the practice session begins, much to the delight of locals and foreign tourists alike.......

Regular customers enjoy a drink, smoke and convivial conversation at the bar, when a drunk, previously barred and in aggressive petulant mood, breaks a window, intent on starting a fight. The barman quickly takes control of the situation, and telling him to go back to the "Shabeen" ( illegal drinking den) grips him firmly by the arm and escorts him to the door. One young hero appears ready for a fight and starts rubbing his hands together, in anticipation of some action, but everyone soon calms down and the evening's drinking continues......

After a morning walking we stopped at Aberfoyle and looked in the wollen mill there because they have a tearoom there. We decided on the tasty (but not very healthy) cream cake - we did share it though!!

from the visitors centre there are several walks signposted. We chose to do the waterfall walk and apart from the thousand of irritating mosquitos it was fantastic.
