This year, Portland, Oregon sent some of their representatives to the 2009 Seafair Parade in Seattle. They were outstanding older ladies and gentlemen parading in their cheerleading outfits! They were awesome and got some applause from the Seattle crowd!

Every year, Seattle celebrates the summer starting with the Seafair Parade/Torchlight Parade. Residents in Seattle and adjoining towns come and watch the parade in downtown Seattle.

In this video, you can see how these students perform with their green flags.

Their marching band is absolutely great!!!

The Seafair Parade usually starts at 7:00 pm with the runners of the marathon first. Then the Seattle of Police in motocycles. Then the Grand Marshall of the Seafair, the company sponsors and the rest are all the participants: marching bands, schools, etc.

In order to have a great sitting area, we usually go there at about 5:00 pm but some people even go there as early as 2 pm and put their lawn chairs and folding chairs on the side of the streets.

In this video, you will see my daughter Sierra playing with other children in the middle of the road. (The streets of downtown Seattle are closed to traffic at this time).

Every year, thousands of runners join the Seafair Parade. It starts from north downtown Seattle and ends all the way to the International District.

The runners sometimes dress up to their favorite attire. This year, some dressed up like a Super Woman,Batman,Caveman, an American Flag, and some came in as a group in a bee attire! Some runners came in strollers with their children and their dogs!

This is one of the best parades in Seattle. Many organizations participate including the Chinese Community. The Chinese team displayed a long dragon.

This is 4th Ave in downtown Seattle.

This is the Westlake Center in downtown Seattle. This is a great place to shop. There is a place to sit down and watch concerts on the weekends. It is accessible by bus. Parking, however, is very tricky here. You can park at Macy's or pay the parking fees.

These is pretty close to a very busy street in Northgate area of the City of Seattle. However, there are so many trees in there and the streets are lined up with huge maple trees. Also, the walkways are very safe for jogging and walking. There is also a designated bike path. The city of Seattle is considered one of the greenest city in the United States and one of the top healthy cities!

This is a man-made swamp close to my work. Sometimes Canadian geese come here and just have fun in the swamp. Also, some blue birds, black birds come here, too! It is really nice that the city of Seattle is one of the greenest city in the U.S.A.

I bring my family to Carnation every summer to experience the picking of Strawberries. It is a fun thing to do as a family. When we have so many strawberries, we make them into jams and give them to special friends and family.

Every summer, we go to Carnation, Washington to pick-up strawberries in the farm. This is a whole day event, so we also bring my children's friends to experience picking up strawberries. We make them into strawberry jams later for gifts to friends and families!
