The island of Hudhuranfushi offers some of the best surfing in the Maldives.

While one side of the island has a sheltered lagoon, ideal for snorkeling, the other side of the island experiences large waves and is popular with surfers.

The best place to watch the waves is from the sun terrace at Lohis Bar. We would often sit there in an afternoon with a cocktail or a beer and watch the waves for a while.

This short video was taken during our visit to the island in November 2013.

The island of Hudhuranfushi contains a football pitch.

In the evenings, the resort staff train and play matches on it.

However, during the day time it is often empty and there are several footballs lying around for guests to use. Whenever I passed the pitch, I found it difficult to resist having a quick kickaround! :-)

On the beach at Thulusdhoo SWFC_Fan, Thulusdhoo Date Added: Dec 14, 2013

This short video was taken during our visit to the local island of Thulusdhoo in November 2013.

It shows a small beach area which contains a stage and a large screen. Our guide explained that there are occasional musical performances on the stage, but usually crowds gather to watch live football games on the big screen!

This short video was taken on a secluded beach on the uninhabited island of Kuda Bandos.

This is the spot where Emma and I officially got engaged on 19th November 2013. It seemed like the perfect spot.

This short video was taken on the uninhabited island of Kuda Bandos in North Male Atoll during our visit to the Maldives in November 2013.

We visited Kuda Bandos as part of a day's island-hopping trip which also included a visit to the local island of Huraa.

Our time on Kuda Bandos was spent snorkeling, before enjoying a BBQ lunch on the beach and lazing in a hammock strung up between two palm trees. Bliss!

Arriving at Thulusdhoo SWFC_Fan, Thulusdhoo Date Added: Dec 7, 2013

This short visit was taken during our visit to the Maldives in November 2013.

It was filmed as we arrived, by dhoni, at the local island of Thulusdhoo, which is the capital of the North Male Atoll.

This short video was taken during our visit to the island of Hudhuranfushi in November 2013.

Each evening at 9pm, a crowd would gather on the island's arrival jetty to watch the 15-20 minute shark feeding session.

This would attract a number of black tip reef sharks, as well as stingrays, moray eels and a host of smaller fish.

This short video was taken inside our Beach Villa (#156) during our stay at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi in November 2013.

Our bedroom was spacious and airy, while the open-air bathroom (with outdoor shower and resident lizard) was very quirky!
