This is taken on the road that leads from the airport into town. It is just before the entrance to the tunnel that will pop you up on Opera Square near to Talaat Harb Street. If you don't use the tunnel but turn right just before it the road passes between Khan el Khalili market and Al Azhar Park, passing a branch of Oriental Weavers on the way. Watch out for pedestrians crossing.
A short trip on part of the Ring Road near the Nile with a view of the apartments, most unfinished and probably illegally built, adjacent to it. The square wooden structures above some of them are, I think, pigeon lofts.
The traffic was more congested than in Bangkok or Los Angeles. The taxi driver revelled in getting as close to the car next to us as possible. You could actually reach out and touch someone in the next car. Car tires were scraping the curb to our left.
