Glossy Winter Day

by SilverVelvet - last update: Sep 11, 2002

A winter storm fell over Detroit and left my sleeping world under a thick cotton-colored blanket.. Although these photos look dark, the afternoon sun left the ground sparkling like a field of diamonds.

In this photo, some of the tiny pine needles have risen from the blanket that covers the strong branches.
The afternoon sun is bright, but not hot enough to melt the icy lines from the delicate branches.
I hadn't noticed the wild berries until this photo was taken.
Another of the sleeping branches from a pine tree that must be 50 feet tall.
A view into the neighbor's yard.

Your pictures are excellent. My Dad grew up on Edison and the house is still in the family. I've been told by my dad that there are some homes on Boston Ave with bowling alleys and swimming pools in the basement. David Luton Bedfordshire UK

Your pages on Detroit are superb. As a former resident and longtime fan of Detroit I'm so pleased to see what you've done here. Perhaps you should consider moving the BE & Corktown sections in Things to Do. Cheers, Franklin
