Soloyvatnet Lots of Norwegians, and the people of Bodø are no exceptions, have cottages or "hytter" where they leave the town and the stress behind - and search for the peace and quiet of the sea or the mountain. And there is a certain nostalgic element into this as well, people wish to find back to how it used to be before, before the cellular phone and the PC. Contradictory enough, nowadays people install all kind of modern facilities in their cottage, to find the same comfort they have at home :) |
The most popular area for cottages around Bodø is the Soloyvannet. The most expensive and different to obtain also, the cottages are often inherited within families for generations. The area is popular for walks both summer and winter, and it offers a popular place for families to gather for skiing activities and sausage roasting. |
Horse center The horse farm at Soløyvatnet is a great place for kids to ride and meet the horses. Many a girl with a horse addiction has spent hours and hours out here. |
