Here are some photos to give you the feel and flavor of this beautiful, relaxing area in northwest Tennessee. It is a waterfowl habitat, and the wintering grounds of the American Bald Eagle. It was created by an earthquake in the 1800's, as it is on the New Madrid Fault. It's name came from an Indian legend. There are motels, cabins, and campgrounds around the lake. And you can rent a boat, or a boat with a guide, and there are bait shops if you want to fish. There is a visitors museum that tells the history of Reelfoot Lake, and info on the wildlife. There are a couple of bald eagles in captivity outdoors in a caged area. These are very large awesome birds, if you've never seen one in person, you will be surprised. And afterwards, eat a catfish dinner at one of the lakeside restaurants! |

nomad7890 Tue Jul 7, 2009 22:51 UTC Tennesee!? My best friend just came to visit. She lives in the north of Memphis (Millington) but was born in Paris (TN). She introduced me to my husband, and now that he's very ill has been a source of emotional support. Very nice roots to have! Martha | Little_Lou_Lou Sat Mar 12, 2005 08:53 UTC GREAT local customs tip! Really appreciated by a southern gal!!! | Elena_007 Fri Feb 11, 2005 00:45 UTC Great tips on my hometown state, Don! It is apparent Tennessee is close to your heart. I have learned a lot from your insights. Thanks. :-) ~Elaine~ | soundsgoodtome Wed Feb 25, 2004 03:44 UTC Excellent TN page! Its a crime that I still haven't ever seen Reel Foot Lake, but hopefully will soon. You should definitely make it down to Chattanooga one day, you'll like it too. |
