This page is dedicated to my dear mother. She had been a teacher. Everytime I went travelling, she asked me to take photos of schools and schoolkids. And to bring her local schoolbooks. She died 1999 and I miss her so much! These are now some of the pictures I brought her from my travels. It was always much fun taking photos of children. I met a lot of interesting people, when I asked for books, which the kids use in their first year of school. This is a small school near Dazu in China. Dazu is not very far from Chongqing on the Yangtse-River. When school was finished for the day, all this little kids went immideately home. They only stopped for a minute to look at us. |
School in Dali, China An old former temple was part of this school in Yunnan. The old lady is wearing the traditional dress of the Bai People. She is caring for the kids, so that they behalve properly on the school's courtyard. |
Jingdezhen, China I think, in Jingdezhen they are not used to see foreigners from western countries. Some girls started to follow me along the street, giggling and talking. When I turned around towards themthey ran away from me. Some grandmothers sitting on small chairs watching us loughed a lot about us. |
Dazu - China This is again this little school in Dazu. It was located in an old temple on top of a mountain. I heard the pupils learning English. |
South Korea This is an old Confucian School in the Folk Village Museum near Seoul. Here the pupils learned the teachings of Confucius. |
