Güell Palace The Güell Palace in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) was built between 1886 and 1890 by Eusebi Güell i Bacigalupi (1846-1918), the first Count Güell, as an extension of the family residence in the nearby Rambla, to which it was connected by a passage that still exists. Sr. Güell commissioned the architect Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (1852-1926) to design the building. This Palace was declarated a National Monument in 1969 and declared part of the World HEritage by UNESCO in 1985, the first modern building to be so distinguished.
