New VT Messaging

In approximately two weeks, our new message center will be live. Please be aware that it is likely that we'll launch messaging and then make improvements and bug fixes over the following week or so. We would appreciate it if you could help any VT friends with the new feature when it's out.

The new system is meant to make messaging easier, and more rewarding. There are a few key features you should know about:

---Messages are organized as a "conversation" that means all the back and forth between you and a particular person are organized together, instead of in separate emails on many different pages. This is more like the standard chat, gmail, and facebook interface that is most used around the world. It may look a little different than current VT, but it's the standard that is most common and is intuitive and easy once you use it for a few minutes.

--- Photo thumbnails can be added directly into messages meaning you can view the image within the message itself.

--- Member name auto-completer makes it easy to address a message without knowing the exact spelling of a member name.

--- You'll find, advanced features to kill off spam and spammers.

**Please remember that all inbox and sent messages from the old message center will be moved to the new message center. However, attachments and any external emails will not be transferred so if you want to keep those, make sure you save them now!

As you know, we look to you for feedback. One we launch, we'd love to hear your thoughts so we can take into consideration for changes. We are pleased to offer the improved functions of the message system and hope that you will enjoy them too!

It's looking good, and bears similarities to the old system of pinning a note on noticeboards on Youth Hostels, and other locations where travellers meet or pass through, seeking information, lost companions, or looking for lifts or offering lifts, I remember the Pudding Shop, Sultanammet, Istanbul was quite famous for this, I picked up a few hitchers here in my van, much safer than out on the road, it was desirable to check out future companions first, before committing to picking them up. Nowadays there seem to be some very strange characters around!

I like the idea of the photograph inclusion, will it be as easy as the present system of uploading to travelogues etc.?

Looks great with conversations. Will it be only internal or can receive from external email? And could it have notification on an external mail when I receive an internal message?
