Vernazza's little piazza also serves as the town harbor. It is a beehive of activities - a hangout for the locals, and an entry point for visitors arriving by boat.

Church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia

Seen inside the Church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia at Vernazza's piazza. Construction of this building was begun in 1318.

As in most Italian villages, cats in the streets were a familiar sight. They seemed to always be well-fed and clean. And we never saw any mice.

Waiting for Wife

I could empathize with this young married man. His wife has been distracted by a shopping spot. He will likely spend much of his time waiting for her to pick out the perfect shawl or whatever.

Folks must climb or descend numerous narrow stairways going to or coming from their centuries-old homes. Fat folks in Vernazza? Not the locals.

Seacoast View

Early-day citizens built watch towers to be on the lookout for roving pirates and or Saracens. This is one of the views from the tower.

Vernazza Town View from the Watch Tower

From the same watch tower, looking down upon the village.
