You might recognise these buildings. They were in Colombo Street, north of Cathedral Square. Nearly every building housed a tourist shop where you might have bought souvenirs.

Most of these buildings are gone in the meantime (Nov. 2011).

Corner of Colombo & Gloucester Streets. The car was towed to this site from Colombo Street where masonry had fallen from the old buildings.

Once we walked here, from Cathedral Square to Victoria Square, stopped for phone cards, drinks, coffees or checked out clothes at Farmers. So many times I parked my car in the Farmers parking building.

This is a vertical photo, showing another crushed car in Gloucester Street.

Stonehurst accommodation in Gloucester Street. It offered backpacker accommodation as well, so was well-known to VT travellers.
