When in a subsistence culture resources are made the most of - and with traditional homes particularly in areas that get very cold in the winter the animals are housed at the bottom of the house - hot air rises!
the important nutrition and income producing animals are looked after, heating is conserved.

The people group who live around the Imilchil are a mountain Berber group called Ait Haddidou - speaking a language found in that part of the HIgh Atlas, with their own costumes.
Communities are usually small to large villages clustered together in fortified Ksars - homes with perimeter defense walls and gates that were traditionally locked at night or in fortified houses usually called kasbahs with high walls and one door to get in and out, a crenallated roof in which the women could enjoy in privacy.
