"From Schloegen to Linz by boat" Linz Travelogue by egonwegh

Linz Travel Guide: 145 reviews and 449 photos

We made a boat trip to Linz in August 2011. Schloegen - situated at the Schloegener Schlinge, a spectacular bend in the river Danube - was our point of departure. If you are staying in Linz for several days, I would recommend spending an entire morning or a couple of hours on the river Danube, to enjoy the scenic beauty of the landscape in Upper Austria. We returned by bus. We paid 19.50 euro per person for the boat and bus fare.

We also enjoyed lunch on board, first we had coffee and Kaesekuchen, and afterwards we ordered soup.

Passing the lock and hydro-electric power station at Aschach a.d. Donau. In the course of your trip from Schloegen to Linz you'll find that there are two locks that have to be passed, one at Aschach, the other at Ottensheim. Passing them will take quite some time, but then again you'll have lots of time to take pictures.
