Visiting China is easy, even for a few days you need not worry much, fly in to Hong Kong, where you receive a 90 days VISA on the airport, then go on the subway to the boarder, Lo Wu Station, it will take you from Hong Kong Center about 40 minutes to arrive there, bring some Cash as you need to change this in the "free zone" for Chinese Yuan, as the visa needs to be paid in Cash, it will cost you some 160 Yuan for a VISA that will last for 5 days. You can enter into China immediately!
Beware of the first Chinese who kindly try to HELP you as their intentions could be not so clear at first.
For instance, I was invited by a boy that would bring me to the hotel in 100 meters, I was brought to a van, they asked me 180 Yuan to bring me there, at least these friendly robbers left the door open, I left, the distance is normally between 5 and 10 Yuan, really good service and cheap with a taxi, on the MAKED taxi spot in front of the Subway Station
Perhaps very good to know is that you can board the Subway Nr 1 in Shenzhen when you arrive on the Chinese side, as this subway brings you straight to Shenzhen National Airport where you can board planed to all destinations in China, for these destinations you need another VISA which can be obtained in Hong Kong, 400KH$ will give you the VISA quickly (2 working days), 10days by mail, and for 160 you can get it in about 5 working days.
This region is well known for it's spicy food, the special sichuan pepper and it's pepperoil are used in salads, soups and almost every dish you can eat here.
Hotels are comfortable, good breakfast service for 10-30 Yuan you have a normal chinese breakfast, for 80 Yuan in the 5-Star Hotels you have an all you can eat buffet! Book in advance, as hotels can be full, Chengdu International Airport had direct connection to various countries in the World, When you arrive in Chengdu Airport, you can get the Express train to the city center, convenient and very fast!
Chengdu, a metropole in Sichuan Province, many people travel here in May, there is the largest exhibition on sugar and alcohol in Chengdu where you can meet any supplier in this business, join in and see how many alcohol is produced in China, it will amaze you, it normally lasts for about 3 days.
Bejing, busy with taxi and buses, cars move around and seem to be stuck forever, at night the city turns into a playful festival of lights and neon in many colors, bars and dancing s will invite you for a karaoke or just a drink, many international drinks are served.
Hotels in all kinds and sizes, make sure you make a reservation.
If you have the telephone of your address, please call them and ask them to tell the taxi driver your destination, this way you will end up at your destinations quickly without failure, and the taxi-driver is impressed you have Chinese connections so he will not try to show you all city before driving to your destination.
Well, meeting with friends in China is a very nice event, they will show you local customs, drink the warm medicinal (alcohol) wine with you and try to surprise you with a variety of dishes which seem to be a never ending and delicious!
If you can not handle the SPICY food, ask for an extra cup (soup bowl) of tea, you can dip the pepper-food in there, it will relax your stomach! It also helps a lot to drink 2 cups of green tea before the meal, it will give you more pleasure eating chinese food!
If you have problems with the chop-stick, then bring your own set of fork and knife.
At Beijing International Airport there is a good area to prepare for your next trip, in the floor you will find power-supply to connect you laptop, the WIFI is fabulous!
