"Manufaktur der Träume (6): Baroque Miners Parade" Annaberg-Buchholz Travelogue by Kathrin_E

Annaberg-Buchholz Travel Guide: 60 reviews and 389 photos

In 1719 Prince Elector Friedrich August of Saxony, son of August the Strong, married Archduchess Maria Josepha of Austria, daughter of Emperor Joseph I. The marriage festivities included a parade of miners from the Ore Mountains. The newlyweds and their entourage are watching from the tribune.

A devoted woodcarver has created this model parade with hundreds of figures.

The miners march in their parade uniforms and present their work. Here is a wheelbarrow with ore.

Melting ovens were set on wheels and pulled along.

(I like the way the fire is depicted... I assume this is painted wool.)

Trumpeters and drummers in the parade.

Miners with torches (again, flames and smoke are probably painted wool.)

A miniature mine at the end of the parade
