"High in Shanghai!" Shanghai Travelogue by purplefeet

Shanghai Travel Guide: 3,208 reviews and 8,341 photos

Walking Tour

My friends and I really enjoy long walks else, we wouldn't love Shanghai so much. From Nanjing Road to Xintiandi to Qipulo our tired feet survived Shanghai!

Day1: Shanghai Skyline at Daytime

After catching a very early breakfast, we are raring to go out and enjoy the cool weather in Shanghai. The TV tower, the Expo venue and walking at an elevated walkway to view the skyline at daytime are the highlights of this first day in Shanghai.

Day1 : Yu Yuan Garden

After a hearty lunch at Cafe de Coral (yes, they have branches in Shanghai too!) we headed to find the Yu Yuan Garden. What we had in mind was a garden of lush greens so we went on walking only to find out we have already walked passed it. It was actually a series of courtyards in their original Chinese architecture with their first floors converted into shops. It was like the Largo de Senado of Macau.

Day2: Shanghai Park and Science Museum

It's not so bad to get lost in a beautiful park. Back from a heady train ride from Beijing, we were after leisure in Shanghai.

Day2: Model wannabes in Xintiandi

What a perfect place to feel like in a magazine photo shoot than in Xintiandi! Tall buildings all with signature shops, endless stores lining up the sidewalk and people garbed in their own brand of style. This is modern Shanghai at its best.

Day2: Rare Kites

An octopus and a giant bird were suspended in the air as walked into this beautiful park. A sight to behold that Chinese, old and young alike were still embracing kite flying as past time. Giant kites are for rent.

Day2 : One for the Look Book? I wish!

When in Xintiandi, it's okay to feel as if you're a model on a mission. That is, to look as fash and fab as you wanna be. Don't be shy, take a good look around, pick your spot and strike that pose. Ask a friend to take your picture. People around won't look surprised that you might actually be in a photo shoot. After all, you're in Xintiandi!

Day3-4 Manila Bound

Hurrying to catch the Maglev train that will take us to the airport, we almost didn't make it on time! This China trip is over bit is very well one of the most memorable trips ever!
