"Freiberg Without Snow!!" Freiberg Travelogue by Kathrin_E

Freiberg Travel Guide: 70 reviews and 492 photos

For some reason I always take the photo of this street view whenever I am in Freiberg. So now, here is a summer version. Without snow.

I was full of doubt - is Freiberg ever snow-free, and what will it look like?

This year I finally had the chance to visit in September. Amazing. I saw a new town. No white stuff around that covers all horizontal surfaces. The streets were so much wider. It was a rather hot day in fact, a new experience.

The street towards Freudenstein castle looks entirely different.

Obermarkt square, used as parking lot and some construction works going on. I think I like the winter version better.

It was Heritage Day when I visited, though, which is a special occasion in Freiberg. Several of the many medieval and renaissance houses which usually are not accessible, private residential houses, offices and shops, open their doors for visitors on this day. So this is a unique chance to see the interiors with carved and painted wooden ceilings and frescoes on the walls.

A view towards the cathedral.

The lane around the cathedral towards Untermarkt - compare with the snow photos...
