"On Top of Schlossberg" Chemnitz Travelogue by Russell_the_Wombat

Here I am at the top of Schlossberg! There is indeed something like a Schloss there. Originally it was a monastery (hence the big church) but after the reformation it was turned into a hunting lodge for the Saxon princes. Nowadays it is a museum.

This was Monday, though. In other words, the museum was closed. So all we could do was walk around and take photos.

A closeup of the corner.

The main view of the monastery-palace-museum and the steeple of the church.

Do I have to explain that the church was closed, too, because it was Monday?

We walked on through the park and arrived in a square with trees around and this pretty garden in the middle.

I did some research about the plants they were growing in that garden. Among the flowers there is red chard.

The square lead us into a quarter that was well preserved. World War II air raids that hit the city centre so badly seem to have spared this area. The houses are all from the late 19th century. Renovations are going on but many of them are already in good shape.
