Meeting VT-members in Iceland.

My Icelandic VT-friend Odinnthor told Anita to contact me regarding us meeting up in Iceland. Anita came by herself to Iceland so we picked her up at her hotel and went to dinner at Baltazar café. She wanted to see the northern-lights so we drove to Grótta away from the lights of the city and there we saw huge northern-lights which filled up half the sky for the longest time. It was awfully cold standing by the ocean with the strong, cold northern wind in our face, and we froze our ears off.

The day after we went to Geysir restaurant and then on a Northern-light tour with Iceland Excursions. Guess what, they drove us for 10 minutes to Grótta, the same place we had been the night before! We waited for 2 hours there and there were no lights. The guide then took us to his museum outside of town by Ísal, the aluminium factory, where we stayed for 1 hour and again no lights.

The highlight of the Northern-light tour turned out to be visiting the museum owned by the Northern-lights tour-guide. It is all about Ásatrú - the old religion of the vikings.

On the third day we met we went to Perlan and Sun Voyager and Kolaportið Flea-market plus other places.

We also visited The Viking village in Hafnarfjörður with Anita and then went to a hill with a beautiful view of Hafnarfjörður village.

Then we went to Grótta so that Anita could see it in the daytime and it was tide so we could walk to the light-house. Anita is a shell collector like I so we spent some time there collecting shells and taking photos.

At Grótta there is a light-house you can visit during the tide and walk to the top and have a great view of Reykjavík and the bay.

It was cold and windy but we had a good time at Grótta together. We then went to a café to meet up with a friend of mine and then went to Lækjarbrekka restaurant while waiting for our second Northern light tour.
