For our 50th anniversary in 2009 we got all the family together (myself, my husband, our four children and their spouses and 9 of the 11 grandchildren) and my sister took pictures of all of us. Unfortunately she had her finger over the sensor on my camera so those pictures did not turn out. After I removed her finger from the sensor, she asked everyone to act crazy (which apparently is a family tradition with her family). That picture turned out

We were married on 5 June 1959. However, I went on an 18 day trip on June 9th with my granddaughter, so it was decided not to do the celebration then, but to do it in October at the time of the Oyster Festival.

The week beforehand, my third daughter and her youngest child came to stay with us, and we went to the Solomon's Museum and also St. Mary's City with her

We met at our house first, but with 19 of us, there was no place to sit.

Also unfortunately, the weather had turned very cold and it rained all day. People did not have appropriate clothing for it. We took refuge in the grandstands where the oyster shucking contest would be later that day.

Soon it was decided to leave and go back to our various hotels. Most of the children and grandchildren congregated in the lobby of the Hampton Inn. Bob and I just went home.

The children arranged a reception at night at Corbel's restaurant (which is now the Front Porch)- we had hors d'oeuvres and cake. The cake had a picture of our wedding in 1959 (I had worn my grandmother's wedding dress from 1905). One of my children arranged a wonderful slide show with music of the 50 years of our marriage. My sister sang a capella a G&S song where she had re-written the lyrics to apply to us.
