typical sights in this part of the province

You often find pond, with stones, cat tails, and ducks by the road, offering a great "photo stop", but anothe thing common here is the use of wagon wheels. As driveway markers, to decorate a post box post, or in this case as part of a gate.

Angles and light

With lots of wide open spaces, and beautiful mature trees, the fall "colour watch can be a real joy. Here, the colours are just starting, but there's always some little thing you can catch in a photo when you're out for a drive. It's a great place to relax, unwind, and let the wind and sun take you where they may.

Looking out over the countryside

When you think of wine growing, I always thing of warm areas like California, southern France, etc. It's still amazing to me the number of wineries popping up in Nova Scotia. Here we're looking over a vineyard not quite ready to harvest, and enjoying the fall colours brought on by a frost. Such a contrast.

I simply amazes me.

After spending my life here and fighting to grow a few bell peppers, and tomato's before the frost kills them off, to see grapes in abundance hanging from the vines is a real wonder. They also have the dusky grapes for Pinot Gris, and the deeper, near black for the rich, dry reds.

We're finally to the town!

This is a view from above Bear River, and you can see along the river. The town itself is small and charming, with little gift shops and cafes dotting the Main Street. Many of them built on stilts out over the river.

One of the buildings on stilts.

This is the Bear River Cafe from the rear, you can only imagine the view from the rear window seats in the main dining area.

This is the life!

Here's just a sample of the view you can expect as you enjoy a meal fit for the weary traveller.

Of All times of year, fall is really best

First of all, you can't beat the colours as you drive along the highway on your way into the small town of Bear River.
