"Rainy days in Copenhagen" Top 5 Page for this destination Copenhagen Travelogue by Nemorino

In the middle of my recent visit to Copenhagen I was treated to one of their famous Baltic low-pressure areas, which brought thirty-six consecutive hours of drenching rainfall.

As I mentioned in my Cycling in the rain tip, this had a somewhat dampening effect on bicycle traffic. Instead of the usual 500,000 there were only about 300,000 cyclists on the streets (my estimate), which was a noticeable reduction but still more than you've ever seen in your life if you happen to come from an over-motorized country.

On one of those rainy days I parked my bicycle under an archway and went to see Rossini's opera Turken i Italien (The Turk in Italy), sung in Italian with Danish surtitles at the beautiful old Danish Royal Theater (Gamle Scene), which is the building in the center photo of my collage at the top of this page. I took the photo from the fifth floor of a nearby department store, with raindrops pounding against the window.
