It was heavily clouded( it's peak monsoon here in India) sky, there was no possibility of watching Eclipse but yet we could see it for sometime in Kolkata. The best part was not visible. I operated the camera and video both at a time. Armed with Camera, Video, Cellphone and X-Ray plates, we were up at the roof around 5.50AM. It started at six and completed at 6.24AM. We just could not see the best part/ no diamond ring or corona. The best place on Earth to watch was Taregana village near Patna ( State of Bihar) about 550kms from Kolkata in West also could not see as the sky was heavily clouded, so was Bombay sky. The best possible view was from Varanasi, where people (about a million standing at the Ganges!) could see it. They could see corona, diamond ring, witnessed the last total Solar Eclipse of the Century!
