The SANTA MARTA LIGHTHOUSE or FAROL MUSEU DE SANTA MARTA, is still functional, but having been automated , it doesn't need constant maintenance anymore, so has been converted to the first museum dedicated to Portuguese coastal lighthouses.
The lighthouse (1868) has a square masonry tower with lantern. Adjacent to the lighthouse, are the ruins of the 17th century Forte De Santa Marta.

Santa Maria House & Lighthouse

CASA DE SANTA MARIA was built in 1902 in a prime location overlooking Cascais Bay. This palatial house of extraordinary beauty is the work of Jorge O'Neill and architect Raul Lino. the SANTA MARIA HOUSE architectural style is typically Mediterranean with lots of natural daylight and strong Arab influence, including impressive iron arches and decorative tiles.
I thought the house was absolutely wonderful. I wandered into the courtyard and found it to be open that day.
