Another Summer, Another Garden

by deecat - last update: Jun 9, 2009

Summer 2009

Painted Daisies
I'm glad my Painted Daisies finally bloomed this year; that's because the baby rabbits did not eat them to the ground!.
Blue/yellow combination of flowers

My Favorite Color Combination This Year

My favorite color combination this year is the yellow Petunias/blue Lobelia flowers that are situated just beside one of our three sliding doors to the patio. I can see it from inside, and adore it once I walk outside.
Pink Peony Bush

Three-Year-Old Peony is Huge

After just three years, my Pink Peony Bush is just huge and quite full. All the neighbors keep commenting about how lovely it is and how fragrant. It reminds me of my grandfather's Peony bush from over 50 years ago.
Patio Garden at the Back of Our House

One of Four Gardens

This is the babk patio garden with my Rose of Sharon bush, Oriental Poppies, various perennials, and my favorite winged angel given to me by my friend, Marilyn. We have 3 sliding doors across the back of our house that lead to the patio; thus, we have great views to the garden.% b
Geranium, Ivy, and vivid blue Lobelia

Three Lucious Hanging Plants Out Back

Out in the back garden, I have three black wrought iron hangers for special plants. This year, I choose three identical baskets filled with Red Geraniums, variegated Ivy, and deep blue Lobelia. Because of the unusually cool weather and plenty of rain, they are brilliant. This is a photo taken early of just one of the baskets, so you cannot really see how wonderful they are.
Ancient-looking bus with Spikes for Hair

A Treasured Gift

This old-looking Bust of a Woman was given to me by my favorite sister-in-law, Jayne, and her daugther, Pam. I place Spikes in it each year to simulate Hair. It's the wonderful little touches that make gardens so personal and special.
Backyard of my home and gardens

Photo of the Backside of My Home

Standing on a small "rise" in front of a very small pond, I took this view of my home.
Sally Cat Resting Outside on Patio Chairs

Sally Cat Loves Summer

Sally Cat loves to lie on the cushion in the newly refurbished 100 year-old-chairs and view the flowers, the chipmunks, and her family.j

Thanks for your visit and nice comments on my Washington page, Dee. That was a marvelous trip with our (then) 12 year old granddaughter. Hope all is well with you and you are looking forward to a nice Thanksgiving.

Dee did you notice I'm making a list for you when you decide to visit New England? Thanks for the visit.

How nice! I finally got to see the inside of your lovely house and what a beautiful fireplace and girls! The sun has finally come out here and now I'm leaving to visit my friends in Varkiza. I will write you a little message later...Hugs, Janet
