THE CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL 2009 BELGIUM

by titabell - last update: May 1, 2009

We started off our day with a breakfast at the Prestige tea-room. We have been coming here since my son was just a toddler. What is special about this place is the French interior, the cakes, pastries, breads, etc. and the camaraderie of the locals who come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
After breakfast, we rushed down to the Chocolate Festival building to buy our tickets. The festival was located at the building of the Belltower of Bruges, Belgium, the famous landmark of the town. It was at the very heart of the city called the Market Place. There were so many tourists and locals alike.
One of the highlights of the event was meeting the current Ms. Belgium dressed up in all chocolate outfit. Beautiful girl in sweet clothing.
The interior of the building was truly amazing, displaying its antiquities to the curious audience. There were high ceilings, thick posts and beautiful wooden floors.
I had the pleasure of talking to some local and international entrepreneurs as if I myself was a business woman looking for some business opportunities. At first, I thought I was just acting, but at the end of the tour, I found myself fully convinced of having Belgian chocolates a big time international business.
The chocolate fountain was a topper. One can have a box of delicious fruits and marshmallows and dip them at the fountain. Kids and adults alike loved it!
There were at least sixty expositionists at the said event, each one, offering some chocolate samples for free. Others were just eager to give you some chocolate drinks, chocolate liquors and sparkling wines, all---gratis!
And oh yes, the festival would not have been complete without the Philippine representative. Here, you can see the famous Belgian peeing boy called the Mannekenpis in the Philippine national outfit called Barong Tagalog. Fantastic!
Our day ended watching the Labor Day parade and a walk thru the fields of tulip at the city center.

A chocolate greetings from me...

Fantastic news about Steven's video. I alway forecast a career as film director/maker for him and seems like he's started already.
