Close-ups of simple flowers can create dramatic photo effects.
Many digital cameras have settings for such shots. The only thing you have to do is trying not to tremble while you hold the camera close to the blossom. This is easier said than done at such close range if you do not use a tripod. So also patience is an important factor, as you might have to take the shot several times until it is sharp.

These flowers are Nicotiana, or: flowering tobacco.
They are annuals and have a very long flowering season. Also available in more striking red and white.

That is a new dahlia species which starts flowering much earlier than other dahlia species. It has rather blackish foliage which makes it a very striking plant in the garden.

A differently coloured blossom of the tobacco flower. The special thing about this plant is that the flowers are so round-shaped. Mostly they are rather pointed.
