old friends came searching for me in Paris, what an honor Bucky !!! We met at another travel site, and easily connect our love for travel and sharing ideas; when I left the site, told many where I was leaving, and to my surprise and great joy, many follow me by exchanging personal emails for the last 2 yrs, Bucky and wife Louie (sp?) not only exchange emails but follow me to VT,and when visiting Paris ,of course ,they were so nice to let me know to finally meet in person.
It was a very exciting moment to share my Sunday midday with you all at La Gare resto, one of my hangouts and polite, chic and parisien 16éme arrondissement. Thank you all,and looking forward to seeing you again somewhere on Earth ::)

So this is the front of the resto, La Gare, it used to be the old metro train station of Passy-Muette, as the lines were rearranged for the line 9 Muette has its own metro stop and this was left unattended, some entreprising young folks converted it into a restaurant, one of the biggest in Paris, 360 sitting and 590 cocktail standing, with a terrace, nicely decorated. It is one of my hangout in the area as it is west ,chic neighborhood and close to my home. Highly recommended to anyone,its on line 9 Muette of the metro of Paris. It now belongs to the Groupe Bertrand, who has several other restos in Paris.

This is behind the resto, as we came earlier for the get together with viajesdelmundo, we walk around to take shots at what would be our dining experience.

the back has a huge terrace which in good weather like now, can sit about 150 persons,lovely gardens and all walled around so lots of intimacy as well, very romantic ,i think.

While we finish our lunch get together at Le Gare resto, we went walking as they have never walked this area of Paris, and the friends couple in the picture was their first trip ever to Paris.

I took them behind the trocadero area, coming into the back of the palais de chaillot, and when you go up there is the Eiffel tower, we descended down and took this shot at the base of the Tour Eiffel the couple which escapes their names and my wife Martine, the frenchie.

as part of our walk, we came down from behind the palais de chaillot, descended to the base and took this lovely shot of the Tour Eiffel ,undergoing her every two year paint job now.

To the left of the tower, you can see the golden dome of the Invalides.

walked past the palais de chaillot past the museums to the left there is a lovely park, cascading water and hilly steps, leading to the place de trocadero and many nice restos with the famous statue of Marshal Foch, and the monuments to the fallen in WWI.

well as we walked to the top level of the palais de chaillot you see a full view of the Eiffel tower, very nice shot, however, this area is one of the rallying point for demonstrations in Paris, and this date, the Tamils were demonstrating the abuses against them in Ski Lanka.
