| wigs, capes, visors and stickers. |
VT community making the race a blast. The staff of VT with the leading of Sophie, setikeyvan put the word out that we are participating in the adventure race. It gave us the chance to ask for VT help and true to the class of the VT community, we got emails and posts offering to assist. The staff of VT also sent us a care package to outfit us properly for the race and swank flipflops to lounge around in. (We clearly took top honors for the costume department) |
| Vera pinpointing where her team is located. |
VTers Vera and Prima Local VTers Vera, VdV and her sister Prima, islandgirlMT answered the call to help. They were eager to help and we quickly secured them for our race. We could not ask for better HQ logistics! They knew downtown LA backwards and forwards, they are very knowledgeable about the Metro system, and they had stacks of reference materials ready to use waiting for our call!!! |
| part of thier notepad of confusing clues |
Calling headquarters. As soon as the race started, I called the sisters and dictated the rules and all the clues to them. They were quick and patient writing it down. We then ran to the closest checkpoint to solve the first clue and they were busy plotting team route. As we ran around LA, we would call them to confirm and mostly get our next 'orders' from them as they have decoded the next clue to do and in what order we should do them. |
| 'next you need to go on the corner of..' |
Maps, phone, computers... Searching for specific locations, landmarks, actor's handprints and Hollywood stars were only some of the things they had to use their wits for us. They used every resources to make sure we were going to the right places all around Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. |
| Prima making sure our information was correct. |
Team effort Vera had prior commitments later in the afternoon and Prima took over making sure the team on foot was still taken cared of. |
| Pershing Square was one part of the clue,... |
Some of these stations was tricky Some of the clues were word puzzles that represented a street or an item we had to find and take a picture with. |
Prima and Vera are the BEST!!! We all had a great time being part of this adventure. It was a unique way to start a friendship but we look forward to more fun with them in the future. It certainly was a team effort that ran quite smoothly. (too bad there's no reception under the rail tunnels) This sister duo is a great asset to the VT community and make sure drop them a note when you visit LA! |
Our parents also joined in the fun. The 3rd part of this trio was bunkered down at the office running 2 computers and phones. Cinda and Neil are known for their capabilities to find just about anything online or off and their navigation skills has never met a route that cannot be solved. |
