Love to Fish!

by bulldogtwo - last update: Oct 16, 2009

Evening North Country Walleye

Minnesota Walleye
These are great fish to catch and some of the best eating fish. In these clean cold waters they turn golden. They are a white flaky fish best deep fried and you can't beat it over an open camp fire after a long day on the water.
Pickeral or Northern Pike

Toothy Northern Pike

Another north country fish. These grow really big, trophy class notherns run 40-45 plus inches in Minnesota and 20 plus lbs. A little more boney than the walleye and it takes some practice to fillet the bones out so that you have nice boneless fillets, but they are tasty. Old veteran fisher people argue that they are not as tasty as a walleye, but prepared properly most can not taste the difference. They are blast to catch on light tackle and often end up pulling your canoe around before tiring out. Unless we can't catch any walleye, all are caught and released unharmed back into the wild.
King Salmon

Seattle King Salmon

This King Salmon was a lot of fun. When he first hit it felt like I was snagged up on a rock or tree, until he took off and started to run. After about a 15 minute fight he finally gave it up and I was able to land him.

Best fishin partner

Mel and her northern. She loves to fish and paddle with me, what more could I ask for!?
Hybrid tiger musky

Minnesota Musky

A nice hybrid tiger musky (muskellunge) that was caught in a shallow river, caught on very light line, 8lbs test and ultra light tackle, this one went about 39 inches, maybe 15-16 lbs. He was caught in less than 3 feet of water so there was no place for him to go except for up. He danced a lot on the water which made the fight a lot of fun! He was measured and released unharmed.
Alaska Salmon

Alaska Salmon

As you can see I was using very light tackle and 8lb test line. The Pinks had just started their run as well as some of the smaller Kings. I caught some really nice ones and ended up breaking one of my poles but still landed the fish. Lots of FUN!!
King Fish in Thailand

King Fish!

King fish caught off Khao Lak Thailand. Very tasty steaks fixed at the Phukhaolak resort. Cooked in a butter garlic sauce we definitly got enought to eat that night.

Jim's Lodge brings back memories. I was put up there for a trip but it was a little too basic for me. Went down the street to Chateau de Bangkok which is my go to Bangkok hotel.
