Ideal Retreats For those of us living in the United States, we're lucky for a number of reasons, which would take longer than my 4000 character limit to illuminate. But the one I'll mention here is our National Park system. One of the first in the world to advocate setting aside areas for protection and conservation, the NPS now has hundreds of parks, monuments, historical sights, and seashores scattered across every state in the Union. With the vast geological and biological diversity in this country, that means that you can visit scorching deserts, glaciered mountains, rainforests, volcanoes (both living and extinct), grasslands, swamps... the list never ends.
I love visiting the parks of our country. They appeal to my desire to be outdoors, interacting with nature and the powerful forces of the earth. I wish more Americans would engage with the parks, as it is a rewarding experience that is... indescribable. Here are the list of parks i've been to so far (continually updated, of course). |
