Originally sited where Union Station now rises, Chinatown was moved to its current location in the 1930's. |
| | There are two facets to Chinatown: The pagoda-heavy walking district(pictured) and the more functional malls and warehouses that center on Broadway.
While the more modern buildings house the expected cheap imports and knockoffs, the "Old Chinatown" has, somewhat surprisingly, developed into an artsy enclave. There are specialty retailers with modern home furnishings at yuppie prices and Boba chains from abroad.
Chung King Road is one of Los Angeles' premier "gallery rows" and is especially festive during art walks and open houses. |

Great pics of Watts Towers. I've always enjoyed Venice Beach too, and it's a shame more people don't use the metro. | Roadquill Wed Aug 20, 2008 06:32 UTC I don't care if it is a tourist trap or not, low in tackiness was easily balanced by the height of the skirts..... ;-) | Stargazer1 Fri Jun 22, 2007 20:00 UTC Good tips. Thanks. |
