100 things to do...

by cpiers47 - last update: Jul 26, 2009

It's not done yet, but...

Bison in the Tetons (September 08)
Thanks to Chris's (travelinxs) example, I started a list of things that I've always wanted to accomplish. I started with some of his ideas - VTers are great thieves - and went on from there.
the Louvre (February 07)
1. Attend an Embassy party

2. Sit on the Great Wall Of China

3. Study a foreign language in its native country (done)

4. Appear in a film (done)

5. Stand amazed at the Northern Lights (done)

6. See the ancient city of Petra, Jordan, on horseback

7. Feel an earthquake (done)

8. Teach English as a foreign language.

9. Have a book published.

10. Walk across the causeway in Cornwall

11. Stay in an estate near a Loch in Scotland

12. Live in Europe (again) - Hooray! I'm moving to Italy in August 09!

13. Learn to Sail

14. Hike the Samarian Gorge on Crete

15. Visit Ephesus

16. Ride Horses in the Blue Mountains of Australia

17. Drink Lemoncello on Sicilia

18. Dance to cowboy music in a “wild west” bar (DONE! - and it was a blast!)

19. Dance to Celtic music in Ireland

20. Paint a landscape in Italy
21. Dance the Tango in Argentina

22. Kayak the blue waters of Thailand

23. Ride zip lines in the rainforest canopy of Costa Rica

24. Visit the Holy Land with a guide

25. Study French in France

26. Bike the wine regions of Dordogne and Provence

27. Work in a vineyard or olive grove during harvest

28. Elope

29. Own a Welsh Corgi

30. Trace my ancestry to England (both sides)

31. Contribute to a travel magazine

32. See a moose in Alaska

33. Drink a mint julep in Charleston, SC

34. Visit Anne of Green Gables house on PEI

35. Snorkel in the Caribbean

36. Hike a Volcano in Hawaii

37. Learn to Surf somewhere warm and beautiful

38. Attend the VT Euromeet!

39. Be in Cornwall for the Shakespearean Festival

40. Visit Yellowstone National Park in the Winter (DONE!)
Inis Mor (June 07)
Doge's Palace in Venice (June 08)
41. See Jovanotti in concert. (DONE Travelogue to follow.)

42. Speak fluent Italian.

The challenge? It's too easy for me to write in terms of destinations and not experiences. I'll keep working on it. The list is currently on my desktop and I open it every time something comes to mind.

Another challenge is that I look at my list and know that my experiences - compared to so many other people - are pretty limited. In many ways this list is no better than one out of a travel magazine. But, I hope that it becomes a little more personal trip by trip.
Snowmobiling in Yellowstone Natl Park (March 09)

Hey Carrie! Glad to hear Cinque Terra is as amazing as I imagine it! Our plans are on hold for awhile - pretty sure my job is toast - but will let you know when that trip is back on track again. Hope all's well!

Hi Carrie, how's the new home in Trieste? I've never been to Trieste on purpose but I was there by accident when Ryan Air dumped us there at midnight!!! I am very familiar with the floor of the train station....

Hi Carrie! I have spent more than six years in Trieste to attend university. Pity you have moved there now that I don't live there anymore. But I'll have to come again to Trieste before graduating in March... Have a nice week-end, Michele
