"A Sunny Day" Tybee Island Travelogue by grandmaR

Tybee Island Travel Guide: 93 reviews and 158 photos

We breakfasted and checked out of the Sleep Inn and headed out for Waynesboro. After connecting with I95, we crossed the Savannah River at 10 am. I barely got a picture of this big dog statue out in front of the Great Dane Trailer factory

It was a bright sunny day - unlike the last two times we
did this journey when it was either raining or foggy. We were
listening to NPR - Click and Clack.

and we parked in the free parking lot, so that didn't cost anything either. We had plenty of time to visit,

When we got there, we found that they were preparing for a big opening that evening when admission would have been free, but the entrance was only $5 each for old people,

and we spent about a hour there at the lighthouse and the museum which includes the houses of the lighthouse keepers and other buildings on the site

We did not climb the lighthouse - we just went into the bottom of it to look at the exhibits.

We didn't go to the fort/museum either.

After we left, we drove to Thunderbolt for lunch.
