Growing up next door to a cricket club Cricket was my Dad's sport and by all accounts he was a very good all round player. I have wondered if he bought the house I grew up in because it was next door to one of the best local cricket clubs in Manchester and close to Lancashire's ground at Old Trafford. As well as watching local games including several important benefit Matches held there Dad took me and my brother to watch matches at Old Trafford. And that was how I came to collect the autographs ofsome of the star cricketers of the late '40s |
