Olympos is one of those traveler retreats that backpackers dream of. Think of the film 'The Beach' gone commercial and youre not far off. Numerous rustic pensions set amid orchards, deep within a wooded valley leading to the sea. The traditional accommodation here were 'tree houses', actually huts on stilts. Though we opted for a more comfortable 'bungalow', (a name I really detest for some obscure reason) which was just a nicer hut on shorter stilts. |
|  | The whole reason to come to Olympos was to chill, which is why I found it a pity that most of the travellers only allocated a night or two to visit. |
We stayed at Bayrams, where I had stayed around 8 years previously. It was a ten minute walk to the beach, through the ruins of an ancient Roman city, never fully excavated and atmospherically overgrown and untouched. Once, we even bought an entrance ticket rather than scuttling through the undergrowth to avoid the entrance gate. |  | | Roman ruins among the woods |
