Beijing; BeiHai Park

One of the Temples at Beihai park
Completely beautiful place- I recommend it highly, especially because of the view of the city you get. In the park are carefully placed temples, which offer history as well as a great vantage point.
Temples, Temples, Temples

Parks Continued

Parks are really great- you get to see a lot of China's past and present culture within them. People do Tai Qi and persue other interests usually during the mornings.

At the base of this particular temple is a great restaurant btw!!
2008 Olympic Site

2008 Olympics in China

I love China, but am kind of glad I won't be there for the chaos of the olympics. It was a treat however to see the site under construction on our way out of Beijing.
Chinese Cousine- to die for!

Food

Chinese food is the BEST! It is an aspect of China I miss dearly. If you are ever in China, I reccommend trying Bao Zi- its absolutely delicious! Tried some other interesting foods, such as bamboo shoots and etc. Try it all, its all wonderful and fresh.
Great Wall

The Great Wall

A tourist Attraction that is definately worth it. My one regret is that I did not climb it, I cheated and took the cable car! I had gotten tired walking UP TO THE CABLECARS! Lol, and I did not want to slow my group down or worse yet, finally make it up to the wall and then the group wants to move on.

If you are not terribly pressed for time, do the extra effort and climb it.
Peking Opera

Tea houses

Tea Houses are a great experience. At the one we went to, you drink tea while watching performers do Peking Opera. For a nice relaxing and not to mention fun time, this is a highly recommended activity. You will find teahouses all over China, but in Beijing there are many.
entrance to Mt. Qingcheng

Mt. QingCheng

Because I am a nature person, I LOVED this place! If you are in the area, visit it. It has great historical significance as well as being just amazingly beautiful.

This is a Taoist site- Taoism is a type of religion, that is relatively similar to Daoism. At the top of the mountain there are Taoist temples. All along the trails you may see the monks who live there. For a fee they will carry weary travelers in stretchers! Its very funny to see. The monks are really friendly, but do not speak a drop of English.
Biotannical Gardens

Biotannical Gardens

Nature Buffs! As well as getting out to Sichuan, you can enjoy nature from right in Beijing, via the biotannical Gardens. A relaxing and beautiful walk, you can also enjoy some chinese architecture and culture.
