Northern California Visit

Victoria Bakery

what to choose????
This bakery is on the edge of chinatown and Italian neighborhood. the Italians that live here had their ancestors come mainly from Lucca...
It looks the same as Italy in this case of bakery goodies. and they taste the same, too.
When I come to SF I always come here for a connoli.
Hey, I am back in Padova near the center!!! Looks almost the same.
also you can see angel island

view of bay from Fisherman's Wharf

Looking across the bow of a WWII Submarine, exactly like the one my father was on during the way.
You can see across to Sausalito and Alcatraz Island.
The bird has shown that he is a cousin to the pigeons that live in St. Marks Square in Venezia.. Messing up things where they land. ha

looking down market street

this view shows the Ferry Building standing tall in the back. This is where the ferry came to unload people from across the bay. Now the ferry isn't needed anymore. So inside this building is a big market and shops.
They also use old trams from other cities... you can see one here.
Market Street is the main street in San Francisco
they use a lot of red

Chinatown Shopping

You can see how fascinating it is to see foreign things stacked tightly for customers. It is just like Italy, but with Chinese writing... ha
and it smells a lot different... pee you...not like Italy...
whew.
but i like to go and look inside the stores and see what they have to buy. I don't know what a lot of it is.

famous dugeness crabs

This is the SF crab. They have a lot of meat inside. and they taste great.
You buy them along the sidewalk here.
also in grocery stores in california.
we cannot get this in denver.. grrrrr.
Go ahead and try one...

look at the sign

This sign hangs above the bakery goodies on the back wall. It shows Lucca and also information about the food.

cable car

the price to ride a cable car is now 5 dollars. so few people ride them.
I think they are losing money as the cars used to be packed with people having fun and enjoying being a sardine in a can. ha
now it is not crowded and every one sits thinking they paid too much.
guess who?
higher than the bridge.

north side of GG Bridge

This looks down from the hill above the bridge. The fog comes through the golden gate and covers the bridge.
It was cold that day and windy... In June.
But I like this view very much and always try to go here.
It is a good place for a picnic, too.

Wow, you moved to Italy??? Amazing! I don't think we will get there probably until our 5 year anniversary...just as long as we get there before Venice sinks into the sea!! We will get a passport for Mike after the holidays. Wedding is in 6 months!
