Bacolod-based VT members Matt and Michael have been very welcome addition to the VT landscape. They gave us heart-warming (erm... gut-bursting) virtual experiences by sharing their travel stories with their "loving" family all over the world.
The brothers wanted to meet VT Manila members before the family left for their South African tour, so a meet was scheduled for May 1, 2008 at the SM Mall of Asia. The Gonzales family (Marites, Dad, Matt & Michael) went to the venue straight off the plane from Bacolod and i got there a few minutes after them. |
|  | The first thing I noticed was that the boys did injustice to their mom Marites who was actually a youngish good-looking mom (contrary to the pics on her sons' pages!) The boys were so hyper and despite their sleepless night, were so up-up-up! Dad was nowhere to be found as he escaped to explore the Mall.
They told me that they almost did not come to the meet, that it was only Matt's legendary tantrum that made their mom change her mind! When I asked why, they told me that the MoA meet was actually the first ever meet they had with people that they met on-line!!!
:D The brothers told us later (when they've met all the attendees: Aida, Ryan, Nasser, Barbie, Jane) that their mother thought that they'd better not push through with the meet as they might end up mugged, robbed or worse... killed! She told us that she feared that the people her sons met on-line were up to no good. She actually worried that they might end up in a ditch. :D Whew!!! Good thing that we were able to reassure her and ease her worries. Well, Manila VTers are, above anything else, charming! Walang kokontra! |
The Gonzaleses and the VT Manila members spent the whole morning getting acquainted... talking about Virtual Tourist and exchanging travel stories. I even got some good suggestions about my travel plans from Marites! Best of all I think we were able to encourage the family to continue meeting more VT members on their future travels.
Hehehehe! we now have a standing invitation to free guide-service (ala gonzales brothers) whenever we come to Bacolod! The brothers promised to bring us to the haunted houses and buildings that seem to abound in their home city... Hmmmm.... I'm not too sure about this one... *
