Greater Los Angeles Soccer League

This photo was taken around the time I met my husband. He is the one on the left scoring the goal. The goalie was from Argentina. Played at Rancho Cienega stadium.

My husband is a very low key person - unless he's in a soccer game. I could have named this album "World Cup Class" but he would not have liked the bragging, but I'll do a little. This year he was selected for the US World Cup Team.

Back then the US did not make it past the first round. That year he traveled to San Francisco and St John Newfoundland with the World Cup team. He ended up getting injured, but he was selected again in 1972.

He was usually the #1 or #2 scorer in the league.

I know he would want me to use the word "football" instead of "soccer" - he used to lecture kids about it.

A very special player and much loved coach.

This was the last game my husband played in L.A. before we moved to Florida. The game was played by Griffith Park - I don't recall the team.

Look at that ball in the upper corner ... yeay!!!

It was the close of the season and he got the trophy as the maximum scorer.

After coming to Florida my husband played for many years and coached many kids before being ill as he is now. Most of the players he coached ended up with football/soccer scholarships.
