"A Few Photos of the Falls from March 2008" Parque Nacional do Iguaçu Travelogue by glabah

I went back to the falls again? Yes!
Every year the photos come out a bit different. The locations are obviously the same, but different water levels, lighting, cloud cover, and crowd levels mean that they are always a little different.
I don't think it is ever possible to be satisfied with photos from the falls. The problem is that there is no way that photos alone can show what is here, and thus no matter how many photos are taken it just doesn't do it justice.
By the way: after visiting Victoria Falls, I gained a new appreciation for the falls here. Victoria is supposedly larger, but only because it is one single fall line. The total extent of falls here on the Brazil / Argentina border is actually much larger than the supposedly larger Victoria. It didn't help, I suppose, that I visited Victoria during low water season.
The area at the Foz hotel has probably one of the most famous views of the falls. It used to be that when the bus stopped and let you off, this is what you were looking at (see photo at top of page). The arrangement has been altered a little bit, and now tourists get off at a location where they can not see the falls as clearly - until they step around a bend in the trail and are presented with an equally breathtaking view.
Almost everything you see in that photo is in Argentina. Maybe the edge of one of the trees is in Brasil.
The same location, from further away, means that a number of the falls are obstructed from view. This is the fence where tourists get their photos of the initial view of the falls.
This quote from the Biblical book of Psalms has been put on a plaque next to the main trail along the falls. Oddly enough, this one is only in English, while a duplicate set, including translations into Spanish and Portuguese, is posted at The Bird Park.
Why English?
The story goes that this was brought by a group of Americans.
Each area of the falls has its own name. The one on the right is the "Three Musketeers". The more massive formation on the left has a different name, but I don't remember what it is.
There are some good reasons they sell rain panchos, and do a brisk business, even on very dry days! There is no such thing as a dry day on certain parts of the trail. The overlook walkway that goes out to the edge is one such place!
This is a second view of the walkway to the edge. There are actually several branches to this walkway, and it is very hard to get an impression of how the falling water completely surrounds someone standing here - unless of course you actually visit.

These little bastards are damn cute, but a bit of a pain too. Kinda like racoons.
