Markets

by anton64 - last update: Sep 5, 2008

Mauritius

The central food market in Port Louis, great way to spend an afternoon.

Lagos

Chaos, is probably the best way to describe Lagos and the open air markets are no exceptions. This is not the best shot but I've lost most of the photos I have of Nigerian markets (back there later this month and will take some more).

Sao Paulo

The municipal market in SP. WHAT A PLACE, like a mini Europe in the middle of Sao Paulo. By the way, I work in the dairy industry so sometimes my photos tend to favour dairy products.

Buying some spices in Dubai

Once you leave the comfort of airconditioned hotels or malls (and you have to to stay sane) the old souks are where it all happens.

Madagascar

It is claimed the Zoma market in central Tana used to be the largest open air market in the world. I have my doubts, some years ago I was in the 'Rock' market in Luanda, Angola and it sure seemed bigger (to me at least).

At the edge of the Sahara - Mauritania

At the fish market in Noakchott, filthy city - I did not like the city at all but loved the dessert.
Graves in the middle of Mushin market

Mushin market lagos

Visited Nigeria last week and took this in Mushin market, those are three graves.

Cairo

Yes, in spite of years of bargaining in markets all over Africa I still got ripped off.
