Happy Easter | Me 700 meters above sea level at Kvanaksla |
Easter was very early this year - in 2008 - so the family decided to give the Northern part a chance this year. After 23 years since my last Easter up north it was about time. Knowing a little bit about weather and so the chances were fairly good to get good weather this Easter. Don't ask me how I know, but taken by old time experience - if Easter is early - chances for a successfull time is there. I was right. For a stay from Wednesday to Sunday - we had everything from Northern Light, 4 bright sunny cold days and fantastic ski conditions. Brilliant. And for those who like off piste - any mountain high enough is waiting for you! |
| On my way down from Vardetinden. |
| | OFF PISTE Why it took me 42 years to enjoy the ride of going downhill in these mountains is not quite something I can explain. But - it is good that one can experience new things at this stage too. So now I have the whole Senja to grab from in the future.
Yuuuhuuuu..... |
| View south/East - Back of Vardetind |
| | MORE OFF PISTE Need I say that most of the ski way up here is OFF PISTE - you have to track your own tracks and you get nothing for free. Especially going up.
In the end it is worth it. You get loads of free training, burn thousands of calories, you get blisters, frostbites and sore legs, feets and arms... but it is worth it, and the redwine in the evening is the best after a fresh day. |
| | Malangen Going up the hill you get a fantastic view of the Malangen - a big fjord that separates Senja from Kvaløya. The Insailing to Tromsø as well as the way out to the open sea. Tromsø is *almost* within sight from here |
| | Bukkedalen Crossing all 3 Bukkedaler (3 valleys) in complete sunlight - new snow and so quiet. Being alone with no others in sight. |
| | The cottage "Bukkebu" Our nice little cottage in the end of the fjord. |
